Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh and Chinese Ambassador Patronize the 2026 Chinese Spring Festival

AMMAN – Under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital (TAG.GD), and Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, HE Mr. Guo Wei, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG- Confucius), a member of TAG.GD, organized a celebration marking the 2026 Chinese New Year and Spring Festival

The celebration, held at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum headquarters, was attended by the Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of China and Director of the China Cultural Center to Amman, Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang, and representatives of the Chinese diplomatic mission to Jordan, Vice-Chairman of TAG.GD and TAG-Confucius Chairman of the Board, Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Confucius Executive Director, Mr. Mamoun Abu Sebaa, and Dean of the Institute Dr. Yang Songfang.

The event was organized as part of TAG.GD’s commitment to supporting international cultural initiatives and strengthening its presence as a knowledge-driven institution that considers culture a bridge for human interaction and a tool to foster sustainable strategic partnerships.

During the ceremony, speakers emphasized the importance of enhancing cultural and educational collaboration between Jordan and the People’s Republic of China, praising TAG-Confucius Institute’s role in promoting the Chinese language and culture, as well as reinforcing principles of mutual understanding and dialogue among peoples.

For his part, Mr. Wei expressed his appreciation to TAG-Confucius Institute for its important role in promoting and spreading the Chinese language and culture in Jordan, pointing out that the Institute has graduated more than 7,000 students, while over 70,000 individuals have benefited from its programs.

He also highlighted the honor bestowed upon Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh by His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China in recognition of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s exceptional and outstanding contributions to advancing the Arab-Chinese relations.

The Ambassador further honored Dr. Songfang and Mr. Abu Sebaa for their significant efforts, which helped the Institute’s teachers and students win more than fifty awards across various competitions.

Moreover, the ceremony featured a variety of artistic and cultural performances highlighting the richness of Jordanian-Chinese relations and celebrated Chinese civilization. It also included presentations providing a glimpse into the traditional Chinese Spring Festival customs, creating a distinctive and engaging atmosphere enjoyed by attendees, including students of the Institute and their families, university students, and members of the Chinese community in Jordan.

It is worth mentioning that the Chinese New Year, commonly known as the “Spring Festival,” is the most important traditional holiday in China. According to the lunar calendar, it typically falls between late January and mid-February, marking the beginning of a New Year that symbolizes revitalization, hope, and prosperity.
